As Taiwanese people struggle on their way out of recent and on-going propaganda-fueled confusion on their identity, this blog seeks to encourage and chronicle our Taiwan identity. There is so much to be proud of in Taiwan. Our land's amazing history, our nation's struggling democracy, our mix of languages, cultures, ethnicities and traditions along with our unique place in the world on the Pacific Ocean rim bring a great enrichment to the world community. We want to bring an end to the history of foreign cultures (whether Manchurian, Chinese, Japanese or Western) setting themselves up as prestige cultures and denigrating local cultures and languages as uncouth or backward. We do have a unique Taiwanese Identity. Our nation could become a leader in the world. In many fields it already is.
