There is now a working holiday visa scheme in Taiwan for young people from Australia and New Zealand. More information about the scheme can be found at Working Holiday Taiwan. The following is quoted from the website.

You can work legally in Taiwan, but can't work for the same employer for more than 3 months.

The visa is multiple-entry and valid for a year.

You can stay in Taiwan for 180 days, and then extend for another 180 days if you wish.

You must be between 18 and 30 years old and be a citizen of either Australia or New Zealand.

The application process should take around 3 days.
