A visit to a night market is one of the quintessential Taiwan experiences. In Taipei there are plenty to choose from. All night markets will have a diverse range of foods to sample and enjoy. Some of Taiwan's specialties that must be tried include oyster omelette (蚵仔煎), chicken's feet (雞腳), stinky tofu (臭豆腐) and beef noodles (牛肉麵). In summer you can't go past the shaved ice (刨冰) which is available with an infinite variety of toppings.
Be warned the night markets can get very crowded especially on Friday and Saturday nights. After visiting you will truly understand the meaning of the Chinese word renao (熱鬧 lively or fun, but translates literally as "hot and noisy").
