Taipei 101

Taipei 101

Taipei 101 rises to a height of 508 metres and was the world's tallest building until the opening of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. There is an observation platform from which you can enjoy the views, but choose a day when the building is not obscured in cloud! Access to the observation deck is via the lifts on the fifth floor. Entry costs NT$400 or NT$370 for concession. As well as enjoying the view don't forget to have a look at the 660 ton steel ball that acts as a tuned mass damper.

If the weather is not good you can still enjoy strolling through the shopping centre on the lower floors. The PageOne bookshop on the fourth floor has a good selection of books (in both Chinese and English). The area around Taipei 101 is rapidly developing as Taipei's premier shopping and entertainment district. You can walk or take the free shuttle bus from the Taipei City Hall MRT Station (市政府捷運站).
