Shenkeng is a small town in Taipei County. It is noted for its well preserved examples of vernacular architecture and the culinary delights of it's old street.

Yong'an House (永安居)

Yong'an House is a finely preserved example of Minnan architecture. Construction of the three sided house commenced in 1912. Much of the original furniture and tools is kept in the house and they provide a fascinating insight into the past.

The house if open for inspection on weekends and holidays. Admission costs NT$60.

Shenkeng Old Street (深坑老街)

The old street of Shenkeng is famous for its food, in particular a variety of kinds of tofu (豆腐). If you have adventurous taste buds try stinky tofu (臭豆腐). There is even a shop selling tofu ice-cream!

Shenkeng is located south east of Taipei. It is only a short bus trip from the Taipei district of Muzha.
