Hello everyone,
I found this great website :) thank you for making it!
Well i am planning to go study Chinese language for a few years in Taiwan and I have a few questions regarding
this and I was really hoping if someone on this forum could answer them for me.
My biggest question is how much money would I need to do 2 or 3 years of study? I know the school prices but
I have totally no clue how much monthly food will cost me, a living place, internet costs etc is there anyone here
that has a good picture of what the price would be?
My second question is about working while studying, I am told by many people that the best way to finance the study would be to go teach English or even other European languages I know. Is this true? is this easy to find? and how does this actually work with visa?
Okay my final point I did make myself a financial picture for 3 years study in Taiwan, could anyone look at it and say if it is correct or if i am making it totally to expensive? or even if it is way to cheap? I did not include the 1 year mandarin scholarship in this calculation nor any work I could do in Taiwan if possible (see question above)
The following princes I know wont change this is from the website of the schools all prices are 36 months so 3 years.
School 299649 = 6240 euro
textbook fee 12000 = 250 euro
health insurance 25200 = 524 Euros
Accident insurance 6000 = 125 Euros
My biggest concern is the prices below I have no clue how much it will be to live in Taiwan, how much food will cost monthly etc. again this is price for 36 months.
Living 208000 = 4328 euro (around 6000 NT a month) (I was looking at single room dorm at university)
food 360000 = 7500 euro (10.000 Taiwan Dollars for 1 month)
total = 18953 euro (910849NT)
Hope you can help me out with my questions, and maybe you could tell me something about your experience how you did do it and arranged everything? and sorry another question do i really need to have all money in front? or do you guys/girls got the money while working?
Best Regards,
Sjir
As a general guide you will
Submitted by david on Wed, 2009-11-18 09:40.As a general guide you will probably need around NT$30,000 a month for living expenses. You may be able to survive on a little less or may need more. Also the cost of living is a bit higher in Taipei than other parts of Taiwan. This is especially so regarding rent.
It is possible to work and study at the same time. However, it takes extra dedication and commitment. You also need to consider the legalities. In most cases you probably can't legally work if your visa is for the purpose of studying. You can find a full-time job (for teaching 14 hours/week) and get a work permit and visa from your job. If you have a full-time job your employer may make demands on your time that interfere with your studies. While there are language teaching jobs available the job market is no longer as vibrant and lucrative as it once was.
