Any expat single parents in Taiwan?
Hi there. Moving to Taiwan (probably Taichung) in feb 09 and would like to make contact with other single parents or people with english speaking kids for my 9 year old to make friends with. She won't be going to international school as I quite simply can't afford it. Really I want to hear how hard (or not) it's going to be for me to get by as a single mum in Taiwan whilst trying to make some cash as a teacher! Any opinions welcome, thanks.

A contact who might be able to help
You should try talking to Michael who runs the blog The View from Taiwan. He and is wife are raising two kids in the Taichung area, neither go to the international school, one is in the Taiwanese school system, the other is home-schooled. The kids are a few years older than yours, and he's had them down there a long time. He can probably give you a lot of ideas and help.
