Hi ~ below itinerary planned for my 8D7N in Taiwan .
Kind of feel the routing is abit out of the way.
Please let me have your valuable advice an suggestion.
Day 1 - Day 2
- arriving Taoyuan airport at 2pm.
- take the HSR to Chiayi
- stay a night in Chiayi
- next day to Alishan Forest Recreation Area
Day 3 - Day 4
- by rail from Chiayi to Taichung
- by bus to Nantou
- visit Sun Moon Lake
- stay a night in Nantou
Day 4 - Day 5
- by rail ( or HSR avail ? ) from Nantou to Hualien
- stay a night in Hualien
- to Whale / Dolphin Watching
- to Taroko Gorge
Day 5 - Day 6
- by HSR from Hualien to Taipei
- by bus to Jiufen
- visit North East Coast - Jinguashi - Miaokou night market
- stay a night in Jiufen
- next day by rail to Jing Tong - Ping Xi - Shifen
- spend evening in Ximending
Day 7
- Danshui - Lover's Bridge - Fisherman Wharf - Beitou hot spring
- spend evening in Shihlin Night market
Day 8 - noon flight back to Singapore

Day1
-arriving Taoyuan airport at 2pm, take bus to Taipei.
-Take MRT (red line) to Danshui, Beitou, check in to one of the hot spring hotels in Beitou and go to Shihlin night market for late supper(Jiantan station, red line).
Day2
-MRT back to Taipei train station, take Taroko express to Hualien (http://www.railway.gov.tw/en/).
-take Taiwantrip bus Taroko route (http://www.taiwantrip.com.tw//Besttour/Info/?id=19) to Taroko
-check in to Tienhsiang Youth Hostel Activity Cente: http://www.cyctsyac.com.tw/indexe2.htm in Taroko( book a room in advance or go back to Hualien city)
Day3
-to Whale / Dolphin Watching
-take train to Rueifang station and take Taiwantrip bus Gold Fulong route(only operating on weekend!)(http://www.taiwantrip.com.tw//Besttour/Info/?id=32) to Jiufen and its surrounding area...Check in to one of the B&B in Jiufen
Day4
-Take train from Rueifang to Keelung station and transfer to Taiwantrip bus Crown Northern Coastline route (Yeliu Geopark) (http://www.taiwantrip.com.tw//Besttour/Info/?id=41) back to Danshui.Check in to a hotel in Taipei; Taipei 101 or see an iMax movie at miramar (http://www.miramarcinemas.com.tw/index.asp)
Day5

Day6

Your suggested Taiwan itinerary
Submitted by Fili on Tue, 2012-05-22 03:45.The outline of your trip is great, but there is no HSR from west to east and you're moving around alot, so you should maybe do it in a different order.
I would say...
day 1 : Taipei. You can combine Danshui, Beitou and Shihlin Night market.
days 2-3: Taroko & Hualien.
days 4-5: Go back to Taipei through the Keelung area (Jiufen and the rest you were planning there).
days 5-8: Alishan then Sun Moon Lake just like you planned. From Taichung head on straight back to the airport.
That makes a little more sense to me and would optimize your travel time.
