Working in Taiwan - from home or in Taiwan?
I'm planning on arriving in Taiwan to start teaching English but I'm not sure what would be best - get a job while I'm still in my country or wait till I get to Taipei?
I'm a bit worried about the two options, and not sure how to do either. Where can I find an English teaching job that would hire me before I arrive? would it be possible to find a teaching position fast if I'm already in Taiwan?

finding a teaching job
There is no definite answer to your question. Each way has its advantages and disadvantages.
The important thing to know is that if you find a job placement from abroad you will most probably be dealing with a recruitment agency rather than the school itself. Some recruiters have bad reputations, but that doesn't mean they are all bad.
The main issue to keep in mind when going with a recruiter is that you don't have much control over the school or location you'll be working. The recruiter may well place you in a school in one of Taiwan's smaller cities or rural areas and these places are not necessarily easy to live in or adjust to.
The advantage is that you can start working soon after you arrive and not have to worry about the insecurity of not having a job. A good recruiter should also give you some assistance in finding accommodation and getting settled.
Arriving here by yourself can be a little like stepping into the unknown. As long as you prepare yourself it shouldn't be that hard though. There is lots of useful information available on the internet and you can ask more specific questions in forums like these. Do some research and have some basic plans in place about where to stay and contacts to start looking for a job.
I guess it comes down to what you feel most comfortable with in deciding which choice to make.
