So what do we have to do in a Typhoon?

I've never experienced any typhoons before. I'm not even sure what exactly a typhoon means.

What does one need to do exactly when there's a typhoon? is it like a hurricane/tornado? is it just lots of rain?

Any explanations about what this Taiwanese fuss is all about ?

Actually the best thing to do in a typhoon is nothing. If you stay in your house and don't go outside then no harm will come to you!!! It is a good idea to have some food prepared so you can avoid going out. Also candles and a torch (flashlight) in case the power goes out.

For up to date forecasts and weather maps check the Taiwan Central Weather Bureau site. There's some cool stuff on there like radar and satellite images.
