Taipei 228 Memorial Museum

The 228 Memorial Museum (台北二二八紀念館) is located in the 228 Peace Park in Taipei City. It commemorates the victims of the 228 Incident which took place on 28 February 1947. The 228 incident was a rebellion by the Taiwanese people against the recently arrived ROC troops.

The museum is quite small and there are no English signs. However, you can borrow an audio guide (available in Mandarin, Taiwanese, Hakka, English and Japanese) which gives a commentary and explanation of all the exhibits in the museum. The museum begins by explaining the history of the Japanese era in Taiwan, followed by the arrival of the ROC forces at the end of WWII and the events leading up to and after the 228 incident.

Entry to the museum is only NT$20 and it is free on 28 February and 10 December. It is open on Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm. The Museum is a short walk from the NTU Hospital MRT Station.
