Blog description:
Taiwan's languages were suppressed by the authoritarian Japanese and then Chinese nationalists regimes. In today's world, unless a language is written down and used in teaching and discourse of ideas, it is likely to disappeared within a few generations. Siá Tâi-oân ê Oē is designed as a forum for people to produce new written articles and essays in the original languages of Taiwan including two Han-derived languages -- Taiwanese Holo-oe and Hakka -- Paiwan, Amis and other Austronesian languages. The standard for Romanization is the Church Romanization, because has been used the longest, is most widely read, and has the most material and dictionaries, etc. Also its system for writing dipthongs is more accommodating to regional variants of Holo Taiwanese.
