If having a larger and more comfortable space is important then look at renting in some of the places on the edge of the city in Taipei County rather than central locations in Taipei City.
I think you can get by on around NT$30,000 for monthly expenses including rent. On this kind of budget you do need to watch what you spend and certainly wouldn't be eating in fancy restaurants every night of the week.
