Ximending is the place where Taipei's young and trendy gather, buy their clothes and go to the movies. It is a very lively place on weekends and many of Taiwan's pop stars make appearances here. There are many movie theatres here so it is a great place to go to catch a movie. More than anything it is probably a great place for people watching. In a society like Taiwan where conformity is highly valued, Ximending is where you will see Taiwan's youth wearing the latest fashions and being a little bit (but not a lot) different. Take the MRT to Ximen station (西門捷運站).
